Tn the beginning of VII century there were two monetary systems: Byzantines and Sasanides. The first was based on gold, the second - on silver. Both currencies were included into the international monetary system of that period. The two monetary systems continued coexistence still for some period of time after the foundation of Chaliphate. In 696/7 year caliph Abd al-Malik introduced the uniform monetary system answering both internal and intemational requirements of trade İn all the territory of the empire. New money - dinar and dirham becanıe very durable and possessed stability. The Muslim currency remained dominating means of the reference andpayment in the international trade of VIII-IX centuries.]]></description>
